SPECIALTIES & APPROACH

Anxiety/OCD & related disorders

Anxiety disorders are one of the most common mental health issues that bring people to therapy. Anxiety, panic, OCD and phobias are highly treatable using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Exposure Response Prevention.

Depression

Depression can often feel like an overwhelming amount of hopelessness. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy can help to improve your motivation, bring back your interest in life and get you back to feeling like yourself.

Life changes & Trauma

Whether it’s simply life changes that you didn’t expect or you’ve experienced something traumatic large or small, you could be experiencing depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, anger or even flashbacks. Coming to therapy can help to process these memories or difficult times and provide relief.

Why Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)?

What is CBT?

CBT can help you to identify inaccurate or unhelpful thinking patterns, allowing you to view situations or thoughts more clearly and respond to them in a more productive or healthy way. It also helps to provide insight into certain behaviors that may be unhelpful - therefore treatment involves learning skills to change both thinking and behavioral patterns. This modality of therapy is considered evidence-based practice; meaning, it has been proven to be effective after rigorous studies and research.

What about ACT & ERP?

During sessions we may discuss different “waves” of CBT. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is like an umbrella term - there are various types of CBT that can help anxiety, depression, self-esteem, trauma and more. You may have heard of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Exposure Response Prevent (ERP) before. They are both types of behavioral therapy under the CBT umbrella, found to be evidence-based practices in reducing symptoms long-term.
